Description
Photograph published in the Binghamton Press, Binghamton, New York, on September 17, 1936. The accompanying article "In Flying Campaign for F.D.R.", read: "'Win With Roosevelt!'" That's the slogan Mrs. Phoebe Fairgrave Omlie, noted woman pilot, (right), and Miss Stella Akin, (left), are bringing to Binghamton, New York for a Democratic rally in the Hotel Arlington, under auspices of the local Democratic Organization", The article also noted: "Mrs. Omlie is one of the outstanding women flyers in the country and is piloting a Ranger Fairchild monoplane...Miss Akin was appointed a special assistant to the attorney general and is the first southern woman to hold an important position in the Department of Justice."
