Description
Lay's Cafe in Kingdom City, Missouri, circa 1949. Established by Jack Lay in 1927 near the junction of Highways 40 and 54, the cafe expanded to include cabins, and the business became known as Lay's Cafe and Cottages. It was a popular stop for motorists and interstate bus passengers until Interstate 70 opened in 1965 and traffic patterns changed.
