City Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, circa 1900. Photographer: Coovert.
The City Hospital opened in 1898 on Madison Avenue. It was the replacement for the Memphis General Hospital on Union Avenue which had been in operation since 1829, the site of which is now the Health Sciences Park. City Hospital was replaced by the John Gaston Hospital in 1936.
