Description

"The Packet "Sun" loaded with cotton, Memphis, Tenn.", postmarked June 1909. The sternwheeler was built in 1898 for the Parkersburg-Creston trade on the Little Kanawha River in West Virginia. It was bought by the Lee Line for the Memphis-Fulton trade and burned at the Memphis wharf on December 25, 1901. The boat was rebuilt and continued running for the Lee Line in 1905. Sold in April 1906, it sank in Mobile Bay enroute to Pensacola, Florida. It was raised and worked the Flint River but was lost at Apalachicola, Florida, on February 2, 1909.
