Description
The first issue of 'US' magazine published in Memphis, Tennessee, in February 1954. The magazine described itself as "The first national, pictorial magazine of its kind ever published by and about Negro Americans in the South!" The magazine features an article on pages 21-22 on Patricia Shaw's grandmother, Lelia O'Neal Walker, and her parent's house is featured on page 28. There are also articles on Beale Street, Jacques A. Beauchamp, Jack and Jill Mothers' Club and Dr. H.H. Humes.
