Description
Program (Vol. 2, No. 59) for "The Manxman" performed by James O'Neil and company at the Century Theatre, Jackson, Mississippi, beginning February 17, 1903. Construction of the Century Theatre at 520 E. Capitol Street began in 1900, hence the name, and it opened in 1901. Seating was listed at 1,475. Various operators over the life span include, Paramount-Publix, Paramount-Richards and Paramount-Gulf States. The Century Theatre was in operation until the early 1950s when the seating capacity had been reduced to 900. The building was demolished in the early 1960s.
