    Description

    A.O.M. (Aviation Ordnanceman) students going through various military drills at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Millington, Tennessee, 1944. Recreation Hall 'C' can be seen in the background to the right and barracks to the left. A postcard version of this image is also in the collection. During World War II, Naval Air Station Memphis was a primary flight training center for aviators. It had a training capacity of about 600 flight cadets, and could support up to 10,000 cadets for ground crew training. In 1943, the training facility was designated as the NATTC.
