    Description

    Ordnance students in the 20mm gun booth on the malfunction range loading feed mechanism prior to firing at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Millington, Tennessee, in 1944. During World War II, Naval Air Station Memphis was a primary flight training center for aviators. It had a training capacity of about 600 flight cadets, and could support up to 10,000 cadets for ground crew training. In 1943, the training facility was designated as the NATTC.
