Description
Six SBD's (Douglas SBD Dauntless) and one F6F (Grumman F6F Hellcat) are secured on the re-arming line in front of the Ordnance operations hangar at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Millington, Tennessee, 1944. During World War II, Naval Air Station Memphis was a primary flight training center for aviators. It had a training capacity of about 600 flight cadets, and could support up to 10,000 cadets for ground crew training. In 1943, the training facility was designated as the NATTC.
