Anderson (1913-1959) was a Gospel alto singer who has been cited as a major influence by Mahalia Jackson. She was the main singer for the Rev. William Herbert Brewster and the Brewster Singers in Memphis. Given the name of a Biblical Ethiopian queen by Brewster, "Queen Candace" Anderson debuted many of his songs.
