Description
This 116-page supplement is a survey of the people and activities of Memphis, Tennessee, in 1903, published by the afternoon newspaper "The Memphis Scimitar". It covers the economic and social spectrum and has many illustrations of buildings, activities and people. The newspaper was established as a weekly paper in the early 1880s and became an afternoon paper in 1883. In 1904, the "Scimitar" merged with the "Morning News" to form the "News-Scimitar" as an afternoon paper, and in 1926 it merged with the "Press" to form the "Memphis Press-Scimitar" which lasted until 1983.
