MSU students and teachers wipe the dust off the past. The students are conducting field excavation of the Pinson Mounds site near Jackson, TN, the sixth largest group of Indian burial mounds in the United States. Under the direction of Dr. Robert Mainfort, students enroll in the joint Memphis State-Tennessee Department of Conservation Archaeological Field School and study earthworks, learn about prehistoric Indians and work next to the second largest Indian burial mound in the United States.
