Description
Memphis State College president J. Millard Smith welcomes Miss America 1947, Barbara Jo Walker (1926-2000), to campus on the steps of the Administration Building, Memphis, Tennessee, 1947. Walker won the Miss Memphis pageant in 1947 while attending college and in September won the Miss America contest. She pursued her degree and graduated from Memphis State College in 1948.
