Description
First annual summer school held at West Tennessee State Normal School, Memphis, Tennessee, in 1913. The photograph has the following inscription: "First annual summer school at West Tenn. State Normal Memphis where 623 teachers and county supt's. are studying to better fit themselves for their profession, thus raising the standard of education in Tenn." The students are photographed on the steps of the Main Building (later Administration Building). Photographer: John Calvin Coovert.
