    Description

    Latin Club students at the West Tennessee State Teachers College, Memphis, Tennessee, performing Mary MacMillan’s “Pan or Pierrot". The image is titled “Columbine presents to Pierrot American girls in costume”. The players were: Pierrot – Conway Austin; Columbine – Carra Lou McCaskill; Gypsy boy and girl – Clyde Joyce, Ethel Lucas; Country boys and girls – Clyde Gaines, Margaret Anding, Josephine Burnette, Lucy Edonson; Spanish boy and girl – Bernice Rubenstein, Jewell Livingstone; Dutch boy and girl – George Spurlock, Mary Draughon. The performance of three one-act plays, that also included John Drinkwater's “A Night of the Trojan War” and Mary MacMillan’s “At the Church Door”, took place on May 12, 1926. The image formed part of a mounted group of eight photographs taken of the performers. See sc.ua.ph03.003_001.006
