Program of a dinner honoring Dr. Nellie Angel Smith held at the Memphis State College cafeteria on May 24, 1952. Dr. Smith (1882-1976) joined the West Tennessee State Teachers College in 1927 as the only faculty member with a PhD and taught Latin. She served as Dean of Women from 1927 to 1947 and was head of the department of modern and classical languages when she retired in 1952.
