Press release attached: "Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth, left, formerly of Birmingham, Alabama recives the fifth annual NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner award from Bishop Stephen Gill Spottswood, chairman of the Association's Board of Directors. Rev. Shuttlesworth was honored for his consistently courageous leadership in the fight for first-class citizenship. Nearly 1,000 persons attended the gala $100 per couple dinner in the Grand Ballroom of New York City's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel here recently."
