New york Senator Jacob Lavitts, left, is excorted to speakers rostrum by Clarence Mitchell of NAACP's Washington Bureau. More than 7500 attended pre-Republican convention civil rights rally in Chicago. Another 7000 attended similar NAACP rally in Los Angeles prior to Democratic Convention.
