Description

Cotton bales, belonging to the Union Compress & Warehouse Company, being stored on the football field at Southwestern at Memphis (now Rhodes College). During the 1937 Mississippi River flood many warehouses along the river front were forced to move their products elsewhere to protect them from the rising flood water.
