Description
The Spanish cannon in Court Square, Memphis, Tennessee, on October 30, 1942. Sergeant Bruce McDonald of the Fourth Ordnance Service at Fort Benning, Georgia, who was on leave, stands beside the cannon captured in Cuba during the Spanish-American War in 1898 and mounted on its base in Court Square in 1901. The cannon was cast in Seville in 1795 and was one of several cannon in the city slated to be melted down for the war effort.
