Description

Court Square remains as the only one of four Memphis parks planned by the city's founders still in its original form. The fountain, donated by Memphis citizens, was erected in 1876. In this image the statue of Hebe that stood atop the fountain is missing, having been blown off in a storm in 1942. The statue was restored in 1949.
