Description
The City Beautiful Commission of Memphis, Tennessee, organized annual Christmas Lighting Contests, and, reflective of the segregated city, in the 1950s these were divided into a Negro Division and a White Division. A copy of the letter sent to Black Memphians in 1956 is included, along with the letter sent to white Memphians in 1957, and the 1956 rules for the White Division.
