Description
Correspondence to Captain T. A. Walker, Superintendent of the Freedmen's Bureau West Tennessee, Memphis, TN, from L. H. Cobb, the Superintendent of Colored Schools, Memphis, TN, 1865 January 31. Cobb wrote a report of the Colored Schools of Memphis for the month ending January 27, 1865. He provides details and updates on enrollment, location changes, punctuality of the students, "rules wanted," "embarrassments," tuition, causes of discrepancies, objections, and potential plans for the schools.
