Description

Correspondence to Captain T. A. Walker, Superintendent of the Freedmen's Bureau West Tennessee, Memphis, TN, from R. D. Bird Sr., Superintendent of Industrial Schools District, Memphis, TN, 1864 October 31. Bird details some suggestions and a report for the month of October 1864. Bird stated, "I have the honor to report that during the short time I have been acting without instructions under Special Orders from you, I have had manufactured out of clothing turned over by hospitals nearly (200) two hundred garments mostly for boy and girls..."
