Description
Newspaper clipping; "Whist Luncheon in Honor of Bride and Groom", The Philadelphia Tribune, 1913. This article is about a celebration of the marriage of Scott C. Harrison and Sadie D. Johnson.
"On Saturday, August 30th, Misses J. Ethelwyn Johnson and Osceola M. Burl entertained a whist luncheon from 1 to 5 p. m., at their home on South Matlack Street, West Chester, in honor of Attorney and Mrs. Scott C. Harrison of Forte Wayne, Indiana, who were quietly married on August 19th".
This collection consists of a leather-bound Bible owned by Scott C. Harrison, a Black attorney, in the 1880s-1910s. Inside the Bible are clippings, hand-written notes, lists of family genealogy, and a pamphlet for a social club meeting.
