Snapshot of English actress Marie Tempest (1864-1942) and her biographer Hector Bolitho, undated.
Marie Tempest was the stage name of Dame Mary Etherington. She was a famous soprano in light opera and musical comedies before becoming a leading comic actress. Bolitho published his biography of her in 1936.
