Snapshot of English actress Marie Tempest and her biographer Hector Bolitho, undated.
Marie Tempest was the stage name of Dame Mary Etherington (1864-1942). She was a famous soprano in light opera and musical comedies before becoming a leading comic actress. Bolitho (1897-1974) published his biography of her in 1936.
