    Description

Crowd lined up outside the Bank of Commerce and Trust on 2nd Street, Memphis, Tennessee in January 1933, attempting to withdraw their savings en masse. During the Great Depression this action became known as a "run on the bank" when the public no longer trusted banks to remain in business and safeguard their money.
