Description

Memphis, Tennessee, Mayor Watkins Overton attempting to calm the crowd outside the Bank of Commerce and Trust in January 1933. The crowd were lining up to withdraw their savings from the bank which was a common action during the Great Depression and in turn caused the banks even more instability.
