Description
Transcription of a diary kept by 13 year-old Elma Duvall, from Belleville, Illinois, while she was in Memphis visiting her doctor uncle, Claude Duvall, in the summer of 1918. Also 11 letters received by Elma during her visit. The diary and letters were transcribed by Elma’s son, James Duvall Trabue, in 1992. Elma Florence Duvall was born on January 4, 1905 in Belleville, St. Clair County, Illinois to Robert Elmore Duvall (1879-1962) and Luetta Viola Duvall (1876-1943). Elma had three sisters, Anna, Mabel and Lillian. She married James Edward Trabue (1901-1976) in 1932 and had one son, James. Elma died in Belleville on November 16, 1988.
