Description

Copy of a photograph titled "Fastest Trotting in the World". View of a harness racing track in Memphis, Tennessee, around 1900. It is uncertain which track is featured. There were a number of harness racing tracks in the city in this period including Montgomery Park and Billings Park. Racing ceased in 1906 when the Tennessee Legislature outlawed gambling.
