Description

Stereograph card titled “127, Group, Memphis, 1904.”, published by Lynn C. Skeels, 807 Fine Arts Building, Chicago. A group of men stand by the side of a horse racing track with a water tower in the background in Memphis, Tennessee. The track is not identified. There were a number of horse racing tracks in the city in this period including Montgomery Park and Billings Park. Racing ceased in 1906 when the Tennessee Legislature outlawed gambling.
