Description
Mounted photograph of the Confederate monument in Dyersburg, Tennessee, with the courthouse visible on the right, undated (early 20th century). Photographer: Taylor, Dyersburg.
The dedication of the monument occurred on April 6, 1905, the anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh. The Dawson Bivouac of Dyersburg spearheaded the effort to raise money for the monument. Speakers at the dedication included Maecenas Benton, Governor Jeff Davis of Arkansas, Senator Edward Ward Carmack, Senator James B. Frazier, Col. Luke Finley, and Samuel Rankin Latta.
